Protect Workers from Heat
Our Mission
The Partnership to Protect Workers from Heat has a singular goal: To protect workers from preventable heat-related illnesses, injuries, and deaths with or without action by the federal government. The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) proposed a strong federal workplace heat standard in 2024 that would have protected at least 36 million workers across the country. That proposal is now languishing, but states, cities, unions, and companies can take the lead.
The BlueGreen Alliance (BGA), the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) have combined forces to:
– Showcase the best existing workplace heat protections from across the country;
– Assist partners and allies with writing legislation, regulations, and bargaining language to keep workers safe; and
– Help state, city, and union advocates across the country connect with one another in pursuit of a healthier and safer future for working people.
Workers can’t wait for better safeguards as our climate gets hotter and more extreme. Neither will we.
